Ultimate Luxury Wellness Collection
The "All Natural August" Challenge (NO WEAVE AUGUST)
I decided my scalp needs to breathe! We have all heard that quote before, but how many of us actually do it. Women and women of color especially often have their hair tied up under a weave, wig or other form of extensions for the entire year! Although protective styles are necessary to preserve ones natural hair, they can be done with ones own hair and should not be done 12 months out the year. The lack of knowledge of hair care has hindered many of us form embracing out natural tresses .Lack of learning what it takes to have manageable and healthy without covering it up. That is how this challenge was born. I was dying to take my extensions out and I feel my hair grows best when its out massaged and washed at the least, 3-4 times a week. It flourishes like a beautiful flower in the sunlight and that is why I mostly leave my natural out during the summer months. Being from the North East Coast harsh winters can be brutal on natural hair so that is why I chose August one of the hottest month of the year to let my hair "breathe". It has been amazing to wake up with the hair God gave me, no clips in, no braids , no sew ins , no glue ins JUST MY HAIR! lol You have got to try it!, it is so liberating especially if you are entering a change in your life, like a new job, moving , new relationship, a new baby, any new change will make this transition back to self, worth it. Also, if you need to make a change but nothing particularly new is happening in your life this is great way to give yourself time to connect with yourself mind, body and soul through natural hair care.

What is Wellness?
So many of us use this word, but do we really know what it means? The dictionary states that wellness is the state of being in good health especially as an actively pursued goal. This is true but wellness truly is so much more. Wellness is balance. It is balance between mind, body and heart. When all three of these are balanced well taken care of and nourished one has achieved overall wellness. Therefore, working out regularly but not eating properly is not wellness. Eating all the right things but not working out being active and moving your body is not wellness. Eating well working out and sleeping well are the key factors for wellness of the body and mind, but what about the heart. These will definitely help one to reach a level of wellness, but if the heart is heavy, hurting and holding on to hurtful and traumatizing events one can never truly be well. Every success will feel empty and purposeless when the heart is not well. Furthermore, it may be hard to take care of all the important aspects of wellness if the heart is sick. It is important to nourish what makes your heart happy just as you nourish your mind and body with all the things that make it happy. Make it a priority to heal past hurt, forgive yourself and others, and find someone to discuss your true feelings. When one speaks out loud it makes a miraculous difference because feedback , connection and reflection are necessary for growth and healing. Being balanced doesn't mean everything is perfect it means you can accept and be content with the idea that everything is perfect just as it is. It is the idea that whatever needs to be done in this life should not require stress, worry or anguish. It is the realization the good times are here and now so you must show up as the best version of yourself to truly enjoy them. And that my friend an be accomplished with ultimate wellness.
